OTAKOYI is looking for an experienced and proactive CTO to oversee multi-functional development teams on a client project.
The product is a subscription-based SaaS platform designed to centralize and streamline Payroll, HR, Accounting, and a range of administrative services for SMEs. The MVP has been built and is currently preparing for delivery to our first client. The roadmap includes five major development iterations that will significantly expand functionality, performance, and integrations. As the platform moves away from the current external vendor, we are building an in-house tech team and seeking a CTO to lead the technical vision, architecture, and execution.

Skills & Qualifications
- Technical Leadership & Strategy Define and own the long-term technology roadmap, architecture, and infrastructure vision.
- Lead the evolution of the MVP into a scalable, secure, market-ready platform.
- Ensure the product is built to support future growth, integrations, and multi-client onboarding.
- Team Building & Management Assemble and manage an remote development team (backend, frontend, QA, DevOps, Design).
- Establish engineering processes, best practices, and a strong development culture.
- Mentor and grow the team through the next 5 major product iterations.
- Product Development & Delivery Oversee the completion and release of the product to the first client.
- Manage the transition from the current vendor to internal development ownership.
- Drive iteration cycles, ensuring timely and high-quality releases.
- Collaborate closely with Product, Operations, and Business stakeholders to translate requirements into technical solutions.
- Quality, Security & Compliance Ensure compliance with relevant Swedish/EU regulations (GDPR, payroll and accounting standards, data protection).
- Implement strong DevOps practices, CI/CD, cloud infrastructure, and monitoring.
- Budgeting & Vendor Management Guarantee product reliability, performance, and security from day one.
- Manage the technical budget and resource planning.
- Oversee contractors or external partners during the transitional periode.
- Optimize infrastructure costs without compromising performance or security.
Responsibilities
- Must-Have Experience: Proven CTO, Head of Engineering, or Senior Engineering Lead experience in a SaaS or HR/Payroll/FinTech/Accounting-related product is a plus
- Strong background in delivering and scaling cloud-based applications.
- Deep architectural and hands-on expertise (tech stack details customized on request).
- Experience building engineering teams from scratch.
- Strong understanding of data security, compliance, and scalable systems.
- Experience in Sweden or EU market is a strong advantage.
- Familiarity with NodeJS, ReactJS, Azure, AWS tech stacks

- 10+ years of experience with Engineering Management.

- Strong initiative and decision-making abilities.
- English proficiency at Upper-Intermediate or higher (spoken and written).
- Strong experience with at least one modern frontend framework (React, Angular, or Vue.js).
- Experience with ReactJS will be a plus (ReactJS, NextJS, TailwindCSS, SSR/SPA).
- Knowledge of frontend testing frameworks and experience with end-to-end testing.
- Experience in setting up build systems and managing frontend performance.
- Familiarity with GenAI workflows, NLP and/or Computer Vision Ability to interpret model results and communicate insights clearly.
- Knowledge of data processing tools like Apache Spark, Kafka, or similar is a plus.
- Strong project management skills, with a proven record of leading diverse technical teams.
- Excellent communication skills to interface with both technical teams and non-technical stakeholders.
- High level of adaptability, capable of balancing hands-on technical contributions with strategic planning.
- Ability to motivate, mentor, and cultivate a collaborative and high-performing team environment.
