CHALLENGE

We started our collaboration by creating a UI/UX design for a complex platform that was intended to cover all of Shiplink's activities within brokerage services. Once the design was ready, our client decided to proceed with the OTAKOYI development team to implement the platform frontend and the company's public website.

With an in-house backend team, our client required a personalized approach to ensure smooth cooperation between the two teams

When dealing with team extension, we always prioritize establishing cooperation. Our frontend team progressed more quickly than anticipated, since this platform involved complex business logic and backend development required a significant amount of time. Consequently, we created a simplified backend version with necessary endpoints on our side to continue frontend work, and caught up with their team once they were ready. 

The process was simpler for the public website, where we utilized the Strapi content management system as a backend solution. Additionally, we implemented quality assurance processes and DevOps for continuous development on the project.

Every industry has specific requirements for software solutions, and each business within that industry also has unique processes that need to be addressed with software.

 

Shiplink had several interesting features that needed to comply with their business specifics. The creation of these features helped our client fully transition from offline to online processes.

Registration process

The Shiplink website is public and accessible to everyone, but only verified charterers and vessel owners are granted access to the platform.

To ensure this, we implemented a 2-stage registration process and integrated a third-party tool called Verif

In simple terms, the process works as follows: users fill out a form, upload their ID scans, and submit their data to Verif. Shiplink then receives this information and verifies the users. Once verified, individuals receive a link via email to access the platform as verified users.

Deals on the platform

One of the convenient features on the platform is the ability to make offers digitally. A charterer can make a request for shipping and offer deal terms, which are either accepted, rejected, or changed within a counteroffer.

 

The process occurs within the platform and is managed by the Shiplink team. As a broker and super admin, Shiplink chats with both parties to ensure the deal goes through.

Custom and safe chatting tool

The chats between Shiplink and the deal parties are automatically initiated the moment the charterer makes an offer. Their team receives notifications on any changes, enabling them to closely monitor the process in real-time. To meet these specific needs, we developed a custom chatting tool from scratch that is convenient, efficient, safe, and fully encompasses the negotiation process.

Routing and freight calculation tool

Shiplink's platform offers additional value for charterers who can use their tool to calculate freight, duration, and distance for their shipments.

This enables better planning in terms of time and costs, and they can also create complex routes for improved efficiency.
