The task our client gave us was the update and upgrade of their online marketplace to meet the requirements of the business. We approached the given task thoroughly and besides the work with the technical part of the project also helped to rebrand the former GoGlamping into Owayy.
The project presumed the team augmentation. Our specialists were involved in the development of the front and back-end of the website, which we decided to rebuild from scratch. We have supplemented the website functionality with all the features a booking service requires. Among the most important features were Stripe payment, a gift card system, and a custom admin panel, which can be used by hosts to post their real estate.
Challenges faced
The Real Estate industry is not something new to the developers from OTAKOYI. However, there were several challenges that concerned the technical side of the task. Here they are:
- Smart pricing system
This system was one of the requirements of the project. It would allow a host to create discounts manually. - Stripe payment
As a user of an online service, one would like to be able to pay via one of the most popular paying systems. - Custom date lock
Some hosts have their own rules regarding booking. For instance, a host may want their guest to book a room from Friday to Sunday. For this purpose, the possibility of booking from Saturday to Sunday has to be blocked.
We solved these problems by introducing a custom admin panel. This feature allows a host to place their locations, configure prices, lock dates, and much more. Concerning the Stripe payment, not only did we implement it, but we also create a gift card system to promote the service. As you can see, we solved these problems in a way that made it possible to turn the challenges into possibilities and success.
Our approach
Owayy is a company that asked for IT Staff Augmentation, and we were a perfect match for this purpose. The reason for that is our rule of continuous communication. Even in Solution Development projects where we create the product from A to Z, we inform the client whenever we achieve a certain milestone, have a question, or an issue.

This approach worked especially well in our cooperation with Owayy because IT Staff Augmentation is a service when our specialists fill in the gaps in a team of a client. Features Implemented
When our developers talk about Owayy, they always tell about adaptation. The thing is that the market is already dominated by giants like Airbnb or Booking.com. Sometimes, a customer may even find Owayy reservations through one of those services. That is why Owayy has to be connected with them in order to exchange data and avoid double reservations. Besides that, the calendar also has to be synchronized. Thus, a lot of work was done to make Owayy flexible and adaptable to the existing services.
Another feather in the cap was the custom admin panel, an indispensable instrument for the hosts. Besides what was said above, it has much more possibilities, unseen necessities of the real estate industry. For instance, a host can manually apply a discount for the number of days booked, place their own price for certain days like holidays, or even automatize a process and place a discount that works regularly.

Finally, there is also a feature that presumes the location determination of the customer. On this basis, the website determines the country of the user and offers custom prices in a local currency.

Owayy is a niche-oriented business. It focuses on Glamping, which is sustainable tourism. Its clients are those people who seek an adventure and appreciate the comfort of a cabin or cottage. With Owayy, people who want to behold the Northern Lights may find a way to do it, balancing between the comfort of warm authentic housing and the proximity of nature.
We did everything we could to satisfy the needs of this type of client. Even the filters on the website include the things that are most necessary to them like a campfire, the proximity of the river or lake, the possibility to visit a place with a dog, or the availability of a sauna. With Owayy, everyone can explore the nature of Northern Europe or present a trip to their close ones.
Experience Gained
OTAKOYI rebuilt the whole website from scratch and worked in a team with our colleagues from Owayy. This project gave us the experience of booking systems development, smart pricing, and synchronization between the frontend and backend. It also required to come up with flexible solutions to fit in the field that was already occupied by the industry giants.
